Our set design concept for Brecht's "The Seven Deadly Sins" is a captivating and minimalist interpretation that reflects the essence of each sin while emphasising the alienation effect (Verfremdungseffekt) central to Brecht's theatrical style.

**Seven Sinful Cubes**: The stage features seven distinct, towering cubes, each representing one of the seven deadly sins - Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, and Pride. These cubes contain the accessories of each scene and are composed like "compressed hay bales," symbolising earthly desires and human nature. They stand as imposing, monolithic structures, drawing the audience's attention to the sins being portrayed.

**Fluorescent Lamp Pathways**: A series of fluorescent lamps are embedded in the floor, creating illuminated pathways that wind between the sin cubes. These pathways serve as both a physical passage for the actors and a visual representation of the detachment Brecht sought in his theatre.
